The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Dickson announces the appointment of Deanna Griffin as the new Clarksville Campus Coordinator effective May 1, 2021.

Debbie Griffin, retiring at the end of April after 20 years of leadership at the Clarksville Campus, leaves big shoes to fill for the incoming Deanna Griffin, whose long track record has prepared her to meet the challenge head-on.  “The incoming Campus Coordinator, Deanna Griffin, and I have worked together for the past eight years, and I am certain she will do a great job transitioning into the position,” said Debbie.

Deanna Griffin began her career with TCAT in 1998 as the Business Systems Technology Instructor.  In 2013, she transitioned to the role of Technology Foundations Instructor, achieving the highest instructor rank recognized by the college, where she teaches reading, mathematics and graphic literacy skills, as well as employability skills, for all programs. She has also served as the Clarksville Campus Testing Center Administrator since 2013.

Recently named SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year at state competition, Deanna also serves as an advisor for Student Government and the National Technical Honor Society.  Deanna said she has most enjoyed “interacting with the students and seeing them grow in both knowledge and character while enrolled at our campus.”

Deanna is most proud of her appointment by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam as the TCAT system representative Faculty Regent for the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) for service in 2014.

Deanna earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, as well as her Master of Education, from Austin Peay State University.

“I am excited for the next phase of TCAT Clarksville Campus leadership,” said TCAT President Dr. Arrita Summers, recognizing the great contribution Debbie has made over the last two decades, leading the campus from offering special industry classes to today’s addition of 15 programs of study. “Deanna has a vast educational skillset that will lend itself well to this new role and we are encouraged about the future of the campus success.”

Reflecting upon her April retirement, Debbie Griffin said, “The twenty plus years I have spent at TCAT have been very rewarding as I watched our students changing their lives by learning a skilled trade and increasing their earnings potential, which ultimately increased their family’s quality of life. I am also grateful to TCAT for affording me the opportunity to stay connected with the Clarksville community and involved in the economic development of the area.”
