Associate Instructor, Patient Care Tech/Medical Assisting -- Clarksville

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for a full-time Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting Instructor position at the Clarksville Campus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with current active licensure in the State of Tennessee.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent nursing experience including two (2) or more years of long-term care experience highly preferred.
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.
  • Possess the knowledge, experience and certifications necessary to instruct in the areas of Certified Nurse Assistant, Phlebotomy, EKG, CPR, First Aid, Anatomy and Medical Records.

  • Must possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher.
  • Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills and mature attitude.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the healthcare profession.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, general public and business and industry partners.
  • Must be willing and able to meet all requirements set by clinical sites to supervise students at the site. Clinical site requirements subject to change at the discretion of the site.
  • Computer skills and ability to adapt quickly to new technology required.

GENERAL DUTIES:  The Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting (PCT/MA) Associate Instructor is responsible for the following areas including, but not limited to: on-campus teaching and supervision of PCT/MA students in classroom and clinical settings; evaluating and advising students; maintaining confidential, accurate and complete records on paper and electronically; completing reports as required in a timely manner; participating in the development of the program; participating in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates; maintaining an active advisory committee; and other duties as assigned. Areas of instruction include, but are not limited to: anatomy, medical terminology, phlebotomy, electrocardiography, medical math, etc. This position reports to the Director of Healthcare Programs. Work is performed on a set schedule from Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Class hours are set Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. As a clock-hour institution, this schedule must be maintained. Clinical hours may vary. Travel to other TCAT Dickson campuses and alternate clinical sites may be required. The position is anticipated to start November 2023. Classes are anticipated to start January 2024.

SALARY:  Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology -- Dickson guidelines, education and related experience.
