Dickson, TN: TCAT Dickson President Laura Travis conferred fifty-five diplomas and technical certificates for Dickson and Williamson County graduates during the colleges summer commencement ceremony held Tuesday at First Baptist Church Dickson.
Tennessee Hospital Association Director of Workforce Strategies, Ferrol Thomas, DNP, RN, served as guest speaker for the event. Thomas told graduates she attributed success to three things – kindness, determination, and curiosity.
“Kindness resonates in all things you do. Determination allows you to keep your eye on the ball. Determination will provide you with strength when the world seems to burn down. Stay curious. See the world through the eyes of a child. Each stage in life represents a new opportunity. Always stay curios,” Thomas said.
“Say yes more than you say no. Find things that you love, that inspire you, that help you grow. Love what you do and do what you love. That’s what my mother always told me,” Thomas shared.
Creek Wood High School JROTC Color Guard presented the colors and graduate John Urbanski from the Building Construction Technology program lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Graduates receiving third party certifications were recognized. Those students were from Automotive Technology – Joseph Dean Alan Alberson; Building Construction Technology – John J. Urbanski; Computer Information Technology – Justin Kenneth Maxwell Claud and Joseph Exaid Senner; Cosmetology – Jaylyn Marie Ashcraft, Allison Michelle Forrester, and Rhiannon Meadows; Digital Graphic Design – Nicholas C. Jamerson and John Luke Morgan; Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration – Dean Mochrie and Mauricio Terrazas; Machine Tool Technology – Blake Tyler and Wesley Warner; Mechatronics Multicraft Tech – Calen Dallas Hill and Jacob Michael Hunter Rose; Off-Road Diesel Technology – Wyatt Alan Bryan, Dawson Jarman Buckner, Luke Oliver Grimes, Hunter Lee Mooneyhan, Kristopher Seacrist, Tecton Spencer, Brandon Springer, and Jordan Wellborn; Welding Technology – Williams Thomas Brandly II, Valentin Nunez Elizondo, Kaiden James Ledbetter, and Paxton Lindsey.
National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Inductees were applauded for their achievements. To be inducted into NTHS students must maintain an “A” average, attend at least 95 percent of their total program hours, and be nominated by their instructors. Graduates with the NTHS distinction were John Urbanski – Building Construction Technology; Kendra Leighann Boone, Venessa Browning, and Annabella Rose Shaikh – Practical Nursing; Jaylyn Marie Ashcraft – Cosmetology; John Peterson and Jacob Michael Hunter Rose – Mechatronics Multicraft Tech; Andrew Tyler Tidwell – Welding; and Tecton Spencer – Off-Road Diesel Technology.
President Travis conferred diplomas and technical certificates for the following students: from Building Construction Technology – John J. Students graduating with honors earned a 3.72 – 3.99 grade point average while those graduating with honors plus earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The class of summer 2026 included five veterans and ten first generation college graduates representing twelve of the seventeen programs offered across the Dickson and Williamson campuses.
Dickson’s hometown college since 1964, TCAT now has campus locations in Dickson, Clarksville, Franklin, and Erin. TCAT Dickson primarily serves students in Dickson, Montgomery, Cheatham, Stewart, Houston, Humphreys, Hickman, and Williamson counties in addition to neighboring communities and Kentucky residents.
