Summary

About the Position: This position is rotated around the pharmacy locations on Fort Campbell to include Blanchfield Main Pharmacy, Town Center Pharmacy, Byrd Clinic Pharmacy and LaPointe Clinic Pharmacy. Working environment is an Outpatient Pharmacy setting in either the Hospital, a small clinic, or a standalone pharmacy location.

Duties

 - Receive, review, prepare, and fill authorized prescriber orders for prescriptions and bulk drug orders.
 - Enter prescription into outpatient computer system, reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders.
 - Package and label products and ensure proper handling, storage, and accountability.
 - Provide appropriate information to patients on proper use of medications.
 - Answer phones and resolve patient issues.
 - Contact providers regarding prescription issues.

 - Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
 - A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
 - An annual physical or medical surveillance examination may be required.
 - This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
 - This position will require evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
 - Selectee(s) will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
 - Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
 - This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
 - Lifting up to 20lbs. is required.
 - Selectee must obtain and maintain the current Pharmacy Technician Certification; continued education hours, and additional requirements for the update of this certification must be fulfilled timely.
 - This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR

Education: Successful completion of at least one-half year (9 semester hours) of graduate-level education in Pharmacology or a related field of study, from an accredited college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
